Many brands + marketers think of content marketing + social media marketing as two separate things. While it’s true they are different, the two really work best when the strategies are aligned + integrated. If you want to see a boost on social, take a look at your content marketing efforts (and vice versa)! Today we’re taking a closer look at how to integrate your content + social media efforts + how to craft great content that helps you reach your social goals too!
1. Post fresh content regularly + consistently.
Fresh content that’s posted on an ongoing basis on your website is not only great for search engine optimization and attracting people to your website, it also guarantees you have an array of fresh + engaging content to share across your social media platforms. Blog posts, infographics, videos, guides + landing pages can all make for great social content!
2. Keep up on timely trends + hashtags.
Social media moves at an incredibly fast pace. Monitor and keep track of trending hashtags, rising searches + what key influencers in the housewares industry are saying. Tracking what’s timely + popular will allow you to create, curate + share timely content that will resonate with your social followers.
3. Put some money behind your content.
One of the best things about social media is that it’s a great content distribution tool. You spend a lot of time creating great videos, blog posts, and other resources for your brand, so of course you want your target audience to see them! While just strategically posting your content is great, putting some money behind great content using a solid social media advertising strategy can help your content reach more people. That, in turn, means increased brand awareness and better results both from a social and content marketing perspective.
4. Repurpose your content for social.
Every social platform is a little bit different, and there are different expectations and features across each platform. Rather than always just linking out to the content piece hosted on your website, consider repurposing the content to fit best on each social platform. For example, if you’re sharing a recipe blog that highlights your kitchenware products, maybe you want to show a picture of the final delicious product on Instagram with some great hashtags. Maybe a quick how-to or timelapse video would be a good fit for Facebook. Overall, you’ll stretch your content further and give people a reason to follow + engage with your brand across every platform!
5. Use data to drive your strategy.
Between Google Analytics, data provided from each individual social platform, and other analytics tools, there’s an endless amount of information at your fingertips. You can use this data to see what type of posts or topics are performing well and use that to create similar content pieces, figure out what content pieces to reshare or repurpose for social, determine the best social posting time + frequency for each platform + so much more.
6. Think mobile-first.
When creating content for your brand, you should always be thinking about mobile users. Mobile accounts for more than half of today’s website traffic + many people consume content via social media apps on their phone. When creating content, write in short paragraphs, use subheads + adjust images, buttons + font size to provide a great mobile experience. That way, when people click through from Facebook or another platform to read your content, they’ll be more likely to engage + convert.
7. Be consistent + authentic.
People already struggle to trust brands, so don’t give them any reason to mistrust you. That starts with a consistent tone + voice across all platforms, from your website to your social media channels. Your messaging should always be on point so there’s no confusion or discrepancy when someone interacts with your brand at multiple touchpoints.
In addition, you should practice what you preach. If sustainability is one of your brand’s core values, how are you highlighting it on social as well your blog + website? If you’re creating content about your company’s speed + efficiency, are you responding to comments, messages, and reviews quickly on your social platforms? If you send out an email blast to customers about a great new housewares product, are you also sharing about it across your social platforms?
8. Make your content shareable.
If you want your content to be shared across social media, you have to make it shareable. If they’re not already, consider linking your social platforms in an easy-to-find place on your website + encourage people to share blog posts as part of your call-to-action. You can also use share buttons in each post + include a plethora of share-worthy quotes + images to make it easy for your audience.
