We sounded the alarm last week that it will be free to sell on Google as they are transitioning the Google Shopping platform from a paid ad auction model to mostly free listings! If you haven’t added anything to your to-do list based on that news, today’s the day!
This allows current Google Shopping advertisers to transition some of their current paid exposure to free, unpaid exposure + gives new Google Shopping users the opportunity to showcase their products without tapping into it or increasing their existing advertising budget.
So what should you do today?
- If you’re already using Google Merchant Center + Shopping ads, you don’t have to do anything to take advantage of the free listings! Just make sure you’ve opted into the “surfaces across Google” program within Google Merchant Center to be eligible!
- To opt in, select “Growth” and then “Manage programs” in the left navigation menu and select the “surfaces across Google” program card. You can also add products to your product feed, to make even more products discoverable in these free listings.
- New Merchant Center users will need to set up an account, opt into “surfaces across Google” during sign up, optimize product images + put together a product data feed!
